hondaJust three hours out of Bogota where the Magdalena and Guali rivers meet is the interesting town of Honda founded in 1539. Known as the “city of bridges”, Honda has for too long been overlooked by travellers preferring to travel on to the Eje Cafetero, the Santanders or the Coast. The town’s winding colonial and republican era streets hark back to a time when the main transport from the Caribbean coast to the interior of the country was along the Magdalena River and Honda was the last navigable point.
Now a national heritage town, Honda is gaining the recognition deserved with people visiting its architecture, the Museo del Rio, the festivals and the wonderful climate.
