Second only in size to that of Rio de Janeiro, Barranquilla’s Carnival is known for being the truest to its roots and folklore in the continent. This unstoppable party where the city grinds to a halt to revel for a fortnight is becoming an international affair with visitors being drawn in from far and wide. Grab a costume, swig some rum and pound the pavement with the dancers, locals, visitors and revelers as you all become one in a sea of people! Look out for free cultural events taking place in the traditional part of the city known as Barrio Abajo. Barranquilla’s Carnival held in february of every year.
