Meta – Villavicencio
Built on the site of an original Jesuit Hacienda in 1762, the capital of the department of Meta just 3,5 hours south from Bogota, Villavicencio is the Gateway to the Llanos or grasslands here in Colombia. A land of cowboys and cattle, the surrounding nature is surprisingly abundant and draws in thrill seekers in addition to bird watchers and those interested in agro-tourism.
Meta – PNN La Macarena
The Macarena national park stands out for being at the meeting point between the Andes, the Amazon and Orinoco, creating a unique ecosystem. Most people will have heard of the Macarena due to the fact that the “most beautiful river in the world” is located here at Caño Cristales.
